Traditional Thai Seating at Sabai Thai Gastrobar
At Sabai we like to offer a different experience when dining out and a true authentic Thai one at that. So if you have not already done so, come and experience our traditional Thai seating when dining with us. These are cushions with a triangular back, you sit on the floor rather than a chair. See photo above. In Thailand they have used this way of seating for centuries. They are useful for stretching out and have the benefit of folding up so they do not take up much space as you can see from the images below. I have used them at home for more than 10 years and find it a nice change to the sofa. Especially when watching a long movie. They are ideal for a nap too or perhaps a guest bed. If you would like to make a booking click here or call 01273773030 and ask to sit on the Thai cushions. We have two tables of 4 so can accommodate group bookings of 8 but can fit 9 if you don’t mind a slight squeeze.
You can buy cushions like this online. Here is one website that sells them in the UK.
I first came across these cushions on beach holidays in Thailand many years ago. In the evenings the beach bars and resorts replace their sun beds on the beach with the Thai cushions. You can sit with friends sharing a bucket of joy or get all romantic stretched out with a loved. Enjoy a cocktail under the moon and stars with the waves gently crashing onto the shore, just metres from your feet. This really is beach paradise.
Below is one of my favourite places I have been, perfect to sit back and relax. It is a great place to enjoy some breakfast or lunch with one of the most stunning views you could hope to have. This is Rai Leh in Krabi. You can read more about it here.
This lovely Thai lady will explain to you how you can use the Thai cushion.
If you are interested, here you can see how they are made.
