Brighton Festival and Fringe Comes to Town!

This Saturday see’s the start of this years Brighton Festival and Fringe festival which as the name suggests runs alongside the main event.  Brighton is always a bustling place but the month of May showcases our great city at its best.  As always the festival opens with the colourful and lively Children’s Parade at 10.30am.  This year will be special for us as our son will be taking part in this year’s parade with his schools reception class.

One of the highlights for me as well as my friends is the Spiegeltent.  This is situated in the Old Steine alongside the Speigelpub which is housed in a tastefully decorated marquee and an atmospheric beer garden outside.  I have been known to enjoy a beer or two here in the late evening spring sunshine.  Perfect after a days work.  There is also delicious food to enjoy here too.  In the Speigeltent you will find, good comedy, dance and theatre as well as some good club nights with top dj’s.

Another good place to go, which like the Spiegeltent is part of the Fringe festival, is The Warren.  It describes itself as a festival within a festival.  A great place to go for a drink and to watch a show.  This year it’s located in the grounds of St Peters Church.  Take a look at there Facebook page.

One of the traditional features of the main festival are the Open Houses.  For the four weekends of May, Brighton and Hove’s Artists Open Houses (AOH) festival throws open its 200 front doors, inviting you inside to see the work of over 1,000 artists and makers.  Read more here.  There are so many other venues to list. one of the most popular is of course the Brighton Dome which takes centre stage for the main festival.  For more information on venues including show’s visit the festival website here Information on the more quirky Fringe festival can be found here.

All that’s left to say is go and have a great time enjoying everything Brighton Festival and Fringe has to offer, not forgetting that Sabai is conveniently situated around the corner from Fringe City and the Brighton Dome.  It is also just a short walk from the Spiegeltent!.  Have a great May…
